B&A is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time Administrative Assistant position located in Kirksville, Missouri. The ideal candidate will fit comfortably into a fast-paced work environment that requires the ability to utilize previously learned skills in marketing, basic accounting, and computing to assist professional staff on a variety of project and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Learn and support B&A’s mission and goals.
• Maintain confidentiality with corporate, project/client, and employee matters.
• Communicate effectively with established and prospective clients.
• Assist in the scheduling of tasks and meetings for B&A team members.
• Assist in the production of common office documents on MS Office software.
• Assist the Office Manager in keeping project documentation organized.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s OR Bachelor’s Degree.
• Familiarity with construction documents and construction contracts.
• Experience with the development of marketing materials including proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Professional and InDesign.
• Experience in basic website design using WordPress.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and 0-3 years of experience OR,

• Experience with CADD software to develop infrastructure or building construction plans.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ideal Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Construction, Applied Sciences, Drafting, or related STEM degree.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to assist our surveying team in performing boundary, ALTA, topographic, and construction surveys utilizing GPS and Total Station instruments. The ideal candidate will also quickly grow within B&A to become comfortable working independently and leading projects from inception with our clients.

Responsibilities

• Operate survey instruments and equipment on a variety of projects including topographic, ALTA, boundary, and construction staking.
• Assist the party chief in obtaining field measurements and calculating points, elevations, lines, angles, and contours.
• Assist the party chief in preparing recorded plats and other work products.
• Learn B&A’s surveying standards and become proficient in utilizing them on projects to deliver quality land surveying services to our clients.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong verbal communication skills to communicate with co-workers and the public.
• Able to follow instructions from PLS and project managers.
• Able to work in varying work conditions in the field such as heat, cold, and over challenging terrain.
• Experience and comfort working in a team environment with the ability to manage multiple projects and adjust work schedules to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Ideal Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in surveying or a related field.
• CADD experience in developing boundary, ALTA, or topographic plans.
• Familiarity and technical ability to operate GPS equipment (preferably Trimble) and robotic Total Station instruments (preferably Topcon).

GIS Specialist

($60,000 to $110,000 annual salary, depending on qualifications)

B&A is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time GIS Specialist position located in any of the following locations – Jacksonville, Illinois; Macomb, Illinois; Taylorville, Illinois; Kirksville, Missouri; or Rolla, Missouri. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead our technical staff in developing maps, data, and other in-house deliverables as well as maintain our vast collection of local and cloud-based datasets while using their creative abilities to deliver interesting and functional web applications for our designers and clients.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing spatial data using mapping software (primarily ESRI products and Diamond Maps).
• Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data.
• Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
• Producing cartographically pleasing maps with various data types (utilities, roadway improvements, drainage areas, contours, cadastral linework, etc.).
• Developing web mapping applications and tools using ESRI products and Diamond Maps (non-coding).
• Converting physical maps into a digital form for computer usage.
• Performing data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form.
• Producing reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations.
• Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.
• Developing internal processes for project database visualization and organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree and/or Certification in Geospatial Technology, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with desktop mapping tools such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap.
• Experience with cloud-based mapping tools such as ArcGIS Online and Field Maps/Collector.
• Experience with GPS and/or measuring tools.
• Experience with SQL and database querying.
• Strong understanding of engineering-related geospatial concepts (coordinate systems, map projections, mapping vs. survey-grade accuracy).
• Analytical mindset.
• Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Ideal Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, or related field with an emphasis in Geospatial Technologies.
• Experience with Municipal, Water/Wastewater, and/or Transportation Engineering Industry.
• Familiarity with other engineering CAD software (Bentley and/or Autodesk Products).
• Basic Python and/or ArcPy programming experience.
• Familiarity with Open-Source GIS Tools (i.e., QGIS, OpenLayers, Geoserver).
