We also provide assistance for local
governments, towns, villages and districts in regards to complying with
the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This can be as simple as
lowering a paper towel dispenser, installing a bathroom grab bar, or more
extensive with installing ramps, lifts or elevators. The "ADA Guide
for Small Towns" can be downloaded at www.ada.gov.

Swimming Pools:
Jacksonville IL - Jacksonville Public Pool Facilities - This project
consisted of
renovating the existing bathhouse by constructing ventilation, lighting, plumbing, roofing
and pool access improvements. Ventilation equipment and new windows will control the
humidity in the building. Exterior lighting will provide for after sunset swimming
and increase usage of the site. All of the plumbing and plumbing fixtures
have been removed and replaced. This project also constructed a new sloped shingled
roof over the existing bathhouse. Portions of the pool deck were replaced.
There is a new 0"-18" wading pool. The pool facility has become
ADA accessible. $200,000 IDNR (OSLAD) Grant Funds/$310,000 Local Funds.
Construction completed.

Jerseyville IL - New Outdoor Pool and Bathhouse
- The project
consisted of
constructing a new outdoor pool and bathhouse at Dolan Park and the demolition of the
existing swimming facilities at Lion's Club Park. The new facilities required an
area of 300' x 200' or 1.4 acre, more or less. The new pool consists of a 25
yard "L" shaped swimming pool with two (2) one meter (1 m) diving stands and a
tube slide. The wading pool is a zero depth entry pool with an aquatic
structure located at one end. The new facility over doubles the allowable bather
load and has sufficient lighting to permit after sunset swimming. $200,000 IDNR
(OSLAD) Grant Funds/$870,000 Local Funds
Construction completed 11/00.

Virden IL - Virden Public Swimming Pool - Replacement of high pressure sand filters and
disinfection system, sandblast and placed a liner on the walls of three (3) pools and
provided swim steps to enhance accessibility. $100,000 IDNR (OSLAD) Grant Funds/$100,000 Local Funds

Carlinville IL - Carlinville Public Pool - This project consisted of various
improvements to the public pool as follows: bathhouse; replace interior lighting,
women's toilet partitions and add ADA signage. Pool: replace existing
diatomaceous earth filter with sand filters, replace face piping and pumps, add separate
filter and chemical feed system for wade pool, replace portions of deteriorated deck and
gutter. Provide portable ADA pool access ladder, replace fencing, add additional
exterior lighting, construct 0"-18" wading pool addition, and other pool related
miscellaneous items.
Construction completed.
