Municipal Water Projects            Rural Water Projects

The continuing decline in the quality and quantity of groundwater has created a need for rural water distribution systems to provide reliable, potable water to rural residents. Benton & Associates, Inc. has been fortunate to work with a number of rural water groups. Our rural water services include:

conceptualization through operation by providing engineering services including planning and design engineering

bullet

funding assistance including loan and grant application through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and USDA-Rural Development

bullet

technical assistance including the preparation of Capacity Development Plans that address the technical, managerial and financial capabilities of the rural water entity.

Past, present and on-going rural water projects include:

bulletAlexander Water District serves 89 customers from 13 miles of water main, operational since 1994.
bulletExeter-Merritt Water Cooperative-Phase I, serves 75 customers from 15 miles of water main, operational since 1998.
bulletExeter-Merritt Water Cooperative-Phase II, serves 29 customers from 10 miles of water main, operational since 1999.
bulletScott-Morgan-Greene Water Cooperative-Phase I, serves 83 customers from 19 miles of water main, operational since 1997.
bulletScott-Morgan-Greene Water Cooperative-Phase II, serves 163 customers from 42 miles of water main, operational since 2002.
bulletApple Creek Water Cooperative-Phase I, serves 150 customers from 52 miles of water main, operational since 2001.
bulletScott-Morgan-Greene Water Cooperative-Phase III, will serve 214 customers from 51 miles of water main, to be constructed in fall 2002.
bulletSouth Palmyra Rural Water District, will serve 180 customers from 62 miles of water main, to be constructed in fall 2002.
bulletScott County Rural Water Cooperative, will serve 98 residential customers and four business customers from 31 miles of water main. Construction to tentatively begin in 2005.
bulletNorth Morgan Water Coop., is in the process of collecting customer contracts and water samples to determine the extent of local interest and health threat. The Coop has collected 594 signed contracts to date.
bulletArenzville Rural Water Cooperative, is in the process of collecting customer contracts to determine the extent of local interest.
bulletApple Creek Water Cooperative-Phase II, is in the process of collecting customer contracts to determine the extent of local interest.
